Sexual and Reproductive Health
Despite making strides in improving the health of its population and ensuring universal health care, India still faces significant challenges when it comes to access and delivery of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. Access to safe, affordable and effective sexual and reproductive health services has consequences for the larger health of individuals and is intrinsically connected to their human rights. In a society where conversations around SRH are replete with myths, misconceptions, and taboos, strategising ways to strengthen sexual and reproductive health services for adolescents as a policy priority is imperative.
Population Foundation of India views SRH as an indispensable component of health, gender and human rights, and economic upliftment. In line with our mandate, we continue to engage with key stakeholders to promote an inclusive, rights-based approach to sexual and reproductive health, and ensure universal access to SRH services.
- Population Foundation of India has launched the Family Planning Resource Bank – a one-stop online source for reliable data on family planning, sexual and reproductive health, and fertility trends – in Hindi.
- Population Foundation of India’s SnehAI, a digital companion for reliable information on SRH, was among the first 10 incubatees selected for Meta’s WhatsApp Incubator Program. The program was designed to help prominent organisations working on critical health issues leverage the WhatsApp platform to improve the quality and reach of their services.
- ARSH for You, where ARSH stands for Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health, hosted on our ed-tech platform Educately, has received nearly 200,000 visits and 4652 enrolments. ARSH for You is an online teacher-training programme designed to equip teachers with information on adolescent sexual and reproductive health and well-being.
