16th March, 2017, New Delhi: Appointment of Ms. Poonam Muttreja, Executive Director of PFI as the
Ms. Poonam Muttreja was appointed as the Civil Society Focal Point for FP2020 by the ARC (Advocating Reproductive Choices) Coalition, which had been entrusted with the responsibility of selecting the Civil Society Focal Point from within ARC. She thus represents the Coalition, an association of over 170 organisations and individuals working on reproductive health and family planning in India, for the FP2020.
27th – 30th March, 2017, Johannesburg: The Institutionalizing Community Health Conference (ICHC) was jointly organised by USAID and UNICEF in collaboration with the World Health Organization, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and USAID's flagship Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP). The four-day conference focused on supporting countries to strengthen partnerships with communities as resources to transform the future and ensure the good health of every mother and child. It brought together nearly 400 participants, which included government officials, civil society leaders, policymakers, sub-national managers and practitioners, private sector, bilateral and multilateral organisations, and researchers.
Ms Muttreja was a keynote speaker in the plenary session on Evidence-Based Approaches for Equity and Social Accountability, wherein she made a presentation on ‘Experiences on Scaling Up Implementation of CAH Processes under the National Health Mission in India’. She also participated in the plenary session on ‘Sustainable Financing for Community Health’. The world’s leading health experts from across 45 countries had come together to bring attention to the progress and challenges in community health and community health worker programmes as well as to develop country-specific action plans that gave it priority.
